Boys season comes to end

Seminoles drop State Semi-Final to Gulliver Prep

MIAMI – As the Seminole boys water polo team left the pool at Belen Jesuit, they walked through a tunnel of parents and fans, sharing hugs, sharing tears, smiles and memories of the season that had just come to an end with a 14-8 loss to Gulliver Prep in the FHSAA State Semi-finals.

But coach Ryan Ackerson wanted to make sure his team stayed positive in the hurt.  The Seminole boys finished the season 21-9, as the SAC, District, and Region champions. Of course, there was also the fact the Noles just played in the state final four.

“There is lots for them to be proud of (this year),” Ackerson said. “They put in a lot of work this season, not just the wins either, plus it’s cool for them to have been here.”

This was the Seminole first trip to the Final Four in program history.  This was also the third time the Noles faced Gulliver Prep this season losing all three matchups.

“Obviously they are disappointed, we had believed we could win,” Ackerson said.

Like the Noles girls team, the Seminole boys are loaded with young talent which should help build a bright future.

“We’re going to miss our seniors, but this team is going to keep hungry to get here,” Ackerson said.
