Boys soccer, basketball bring home post-season wins

Gabriel Heuvel scored off a free kick to break a scoreless tie in the second half before he added two more goal on the night and Seminole cruised passed Ocoee 3-0 in the FHSAA 7A Regional quarterfinals at home on Feb. 6.

The Seminoles advance to take on Creekside Feb. 12 on the road. Game time is set for 7pm.

Boys Basketball

PORT ORANGE – After losing twice in the regular season to Lake Mary, the Seminole boys basketball team won when it counted the most – the FHSAA 7A District 2 final at Spruce Creek, the Noles downed the Rams 52-43.

The Seminoles advance to the Regional quarterfinals on Feb 14. Their opponent and location is TBA.

Water Polo

The Seminole girls opened the season with a 19-8 win over Winter Park with Vivian Swain leading the Noles with three assists. Halle Zimlich added two assists and five steals, while Naia Hair recorded two assists and three steals. The girls improved to 1-0 for the fifth consecutive year and will play in the Lake Nona Invitational Tournament next Friday-Saturday at Lake Highland Preparatory School.

The boys got a 13-8 win over visiting Winter Park. Timmy Samples totaled three assists and four steals to lead the Noles. Adam Walker had two assists, Luc LeRoy added one assist and four steals, and Brayden Tarkowski finished with four steals. The boys also started the season 1-0 and will compete in the Lake Nona Invitational Tournament this Friday-Saturday at Lake Highland Preparatory School.

Wrestling

Seminole had multiple place finishers at the SAC Wrestling Championships on Feb. 7 at Hagerty High School.

On the boys side, Anthony Lyle finished second in his weight class, while Joey Lyle placed fourth. The Seminole girls also turned in strong performances, led by second-place finishes from Addison Antonowicz and Akela Martin. Mia Pineiro, Krystabelle Torres and Sofia Urdaneta each earned third-place finishes.
