ORLANDO – Preseason is always for teams to figure a few things out. Seminole’s football team is no different.
The Noles traveled to Camping World Stadium on Aug 17 to take on Jones in the Legacy Classic.
“First pre-season game and it gave us an idea where we stand,” coach Karl Calhoun said after his team’s 43-21 loss to the Tigers. “Especially playing a team of Jones caliber.”
After Seminole tied the game at seven with just over three minutes in the first quarter, Jones rolled to a 28-7 half time lead.
“We literally beat ourselves with turnovers, bad tackling, and just a lack of urgency in certain areas of the game,” Calhoun said. “They capitalized on our mistakes and made minimal mistakes.”
One of those mistakes was a 75-yard interception for a touchdown early in the third, but Seminole bounced back when the Noles fumble into the endzone, and recovered the ball for a touchdown. Cutting the Tigers lead to 34-14 with just under five minutes left in the third.
Seminole would add its final score of the game with 8:35 left to finish off the Noles scoring.
