OCALA – With three top 11 finishes in the relays and Timmy Samples 13th place finish in the 50 freestyle the Seminole boys had their best showing since 2020 at the FHSAA 4A State Championship Swimming meet at FAST in Ocala on Nov. 9.
“It was a great day in Ocala, with lots to be proud of,” said Seminole coach Ryan Ackerson. “We have lots to be excited about going forward.”
For the second straight year, the girls 200 freestyle relay earned a top 8 finish. With three returnees from last year – Juniors Lindsey Annunziato, Vivian Swain, and Halle Zimlich and Sophomore Gabby Gogolinski added to the relay, Ackerson said Seminole “will be looking to do even more damage the next time around.”
After not qualifying for the state meet last year in the 200 Medley Relay, the Boys finished 5th in prelims, earning their way to the championship final and went even faster at night. The team of Camden Bates, Adam Walker, Sebastian Robledo, and Samples earned their first of two medals of the meet with a 6th place finish in the Medley Relay. Their second medal came in the 200 Freestyle Relay where they finished 7th.
In the 400 freestyle relays the girls relay team of Halle Zimlich, Caroline Brown, Abigail Coleman, and Gabby Pierson dropped an impressive time in the Consolation Final, and the boys relay team of Robledo, Ethan Pierson, John Slater, and Luc LeRoy secured an 11th place finish.
