WINTER GARDEN — Goalkeeper Nate Farrow once again dove to his left and blocked a penalty kick, just as he had twice earlier in the match. This time, the save sent the visiting Seminoles to the FHSAA 7A State semifinals.
Tied 1-1 after regulation and overtime, neither team could find the net, forcing the match to be decided by penalty kicks to determine who would advance to DeLand.
Gabriel Heuval opened the shootout for the Seminoles by converting the first penalty. Farrow then stopped West Orange’s attempt, and captain Preston St. Louis (pictured right) followed with a goal to give the Seminoles a 2-0 advantage.
West Orange converted its next kick, and the teams traded goals from there, including goals by Noah Villalard and Youseff Faid.
Then Farrow delivered again, making the decisive save to seal the victory.
“He’s been my No. 1 goalkeeper since day one,” Seminole coach Frank Cipolla said. “He came up huge for us. Noah came up big, Gabe played a great game, and our defense was unbelievable.”
The Seminoles will face Palm Harbor University at Spec Martin Stadium on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. for a chance to advance to the state championship.
