OVIEDO – Brooklynne Farran drove in five runs, including a go-ahead grand slam, to lift the Seminole to a 9-7 win over host Master’s Academy on Tuesday.
Farran finished with two hits, singling in a run in the fourth inning before blasting a grand slam to center field in the sixth to put Seminole back in front for good. Hurley Romero added a two-run home run in the fourth as the Seminoles built a 5-1 lead.
Master’s Academy rallied with five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a brief 6-5 advantage, but Seminole answered immediately behind Farran’s six-run performance.
Maggie Long earned the win in relief, striking out six while allowing one run over 3 2/3 innings. Seminole totaled 10 hits, led by three apiece from Romero and Samantha Davidson.
BASEBALL
OVIEDO — Seminole pulled away with a six-run fourth inning to defeat Oviedo 9-3 on Tuesday at Oviedo.
Seminole broke the game open with RBI hits from Jeyrel Rivera and Noah Inman, a bases-loaded walk by Caleb Cummings, and runs scored on an error and a wild pitch to turn a tight contest into a comfortable lead.
Landon Purnell earned the win, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits over six innings with five strikeouts. Luke Lehmann closed out the game with a scoreless inning of relief. Inman paced the offense, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Seminole showed discipline at the plate, drawing nine walks and turning a double play on defense.
BOYS LACROSSE
After leading much of the second half, the Seminoles fell 8-7 after a late goal by host Winter Springs.
