Boys run away with title, girls third

Led by champions in multiple events, Seminole’s boys captured the FHSAA 4A District 2 Championships title with 145 points, finishing 16 points ahead of runner-up Flagler Palm Coast.

 

Kamahj Walker won the long jump with a leap of 22 feet, 8 1/2 inches. Nickoye Watt captured the 200-meter dash in 22.13 seconds and also placed second in the 100-meter dash in 10.92. Alvin Moore won the pole vault at 12 feet, 3 1/2 inches.

 

Seminole also swept relay victories in the boys 4×100 and 4×800 relays. The 4×100 team finished in 42.47 seconds, while the 4×800 squad posted a winning time of 8:13.4.

 

The Seminoles finished ahead of Flagler Palm Coast (129 points), Buchholz (105), Lake Mary (96) and West Port (67) to secure the team championship.

Seminole’s girls team also turned in a strong performance, placing third overall with 88 points behind West Port (151.5) and Lake Mary (112).

 

Davarian Jefferson added key sprint points with a third-place finish in the 200 and fourth in the 100. Quenton Washington placed fifth in the 400, while Oscar Loredo, Tyler Clarke-Lowery and Joseph Fisher all finished in the top seven of the 800.

In the field events, Jayden Aristile placed second in the high jump at 6 feet, 3 1/2 inches, while Nygel Pardo was third. Keelan Davis took second in the triple jump, Walker was third and Pardo finished fourth. Julian Rogers placed third in the shot put and seventh in the discus.

 

For the girls, Natalia Voltaire led the way with a victory in the 100-meter dash in 12.3 seconds. Imani Reid added runner-up finishes in both the 200-meter dash and 100-meter hurdles, while Za’miyah Brown placed fourth in the 200 and fourth in the 400.

 

The Seminole girls also turned in strong relay performances, placing second in both the 4×100 relay in 48.1 seconds and the 4×400 relay in 4:02.3.

 

Vanessa Lowery finished third in the 400-meter dash in 57.78 seconds. In the throws, Jamiyah Simpson placed third in the discus and fifth in the shot put, while Jazera Ellington finished third in the shot put.

 

Additional top-eight finishes for Seminole included Khaliya King in the girls pole vault, Michiah Sumner in the girls triple jump, Braxton Price in the boys javelin and William Heilman in the boys 3,200-meter run.
