SANFORD – Seminole High School Principal Michael Pfeiffer is excited to announce the new Athletic Director of SHS, Woody Cox.
Pfeiffer notes, “Mr. Cox brings a deep understanding of the entire SHS athletics program, fluency regarding FHSAA rules and regulations, and the culture of Seminole success! Most importantly, Mr. Cox embraces the honor given to him to lead Bokey and to continue our legacy of championships.”
Cox replaces Lakisya Killingsworth, who left Seminole for an Assistant Principal position at Lake Nona High School. For the past year, Cox has been the head football coach at Colonial High School in Orlando.
“I’m honored to have been selected to lead such a prestigious athletics department that always has some of the best teams and athletes in the state,” Cox said. Cox spent nine years at Seminole High in various positions including boys Lacrosse head coach and the head coach for boys and girls Bowling. He also served as the varsity football offensive coordinator, an assistant for track and field, and was part of the Football State Championship team in 2020.
“Seminole is one of the elite high schools in both athletics and academics here in Florida,” Cox said. “I look forward to carrying on the proud traditions and legacies that are so well established here in Bokey.”
Before his time at Seminole, Cox spent three years at Lyman High School, where he coached football, Boys’ Lacrosse, Weightlifting, and Volleyball. He began his career at Edgewater High School before moving to Olympia High School. Following those stops, Cox spent a year with the United Football League’s Florida Tuskers and two years supporting Rollins College resurrect its club football team. Cox has been married to the love of his life, Candice Cox, for the last seven years. They have two awesome sons, Quinn, and Ben.
