WINTER SPRINGS – The Seminole softball team kicked off the 2025 season on Feb 12 at the Mark Hauman Memorial Tournament at Solider’s Creek.
In a back and forth game to start day, Seminole down Lyman 9-7.
Ava Hertz collected three hits in three at bats in the win. Hertz tripled in the first inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the third inning.
The Seminoles got on the board in the top of the first inning after Hertz tripled down the left field line, and Mary Long hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring a run.
In in the top of the third thanks to singles by Allie Steffano, Long, Madie Baker, and Ava Matthews Seminole jumped out 7-4.
Maggie Long pitched three innings in relief for the Noles. She gave up six hits and three runs while, striking out two and walking none.
In the night cap, Montverde down Seminole 12-0.
Ava Matthews started in the circle for the Noles, giving up eight hits and 10 runs (nine earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking six.
Oviedo downs boys Lacrosse 16-6
Visiting Oviedo got by Seminole 16-6 on Feb 12.
Robert Delany led the Noles with three goals, Liam Souza had 2 and Antonio Rivers added a goal.
Boys weight lifters grab wins against Oviedo
Boys Varsity Weightlifting team competed against Oviedo High School Feb 12 in traditional style lifts. We had several lifters who placed in the top three.

Water polo grabs pair of wins against Lake Brantley
Halle Zimlich had 6 goals to lead the host Seminoles over Lake Brantley 14-5.
Zimlich added two assists and two stealsVivian Swain had three assists and Raelynn Bouley had an assist three steals in the win.
For the boys, Mircea Timofti had five goals to lead the Noles over the Patriots 20-9.
Adam Walker added 4 assists and 4 steals, while Timmy Samples ahd 4 assists and 3 steals in the win.
Girls lacrosse downs Boone
ORLAND – The Seminole girls opened the season with a bang, as the visiting Noles downed Boone for the first time in 4 years 14-12 on Feb 12.
Seniors Olivia Sprinkle 7 goals and Amaya Cadman 5 goals lead the Seminoles.
First year player Boomika Jutu scored 3 goals, in 5-3 loss for the JV.
