Boys Golf

CLERMONT – The short-handed Seminoles lost to East Ridge by forfeit

Swimming

ORLANDO – The Seminole swimmers had a clean sweep of Lake Nona and Lake Highland Prep during a tri-meet on Oct. 9.

The Seminole girls beat Lake Nona 191–77 and topped Lake Highland 154–125. The boys defeated Lake Nona 189–85 and Lake Highland 148–132.

The boys also swept all relay events.

Both teams will compete in the SAC Championship meet at Lake Howell on Oct. 15. The Seminole boys are the defending champions, while the girls finished third last year.

The boys are aiming to win back-to-back conference titles for the first time since 2017. Seminole captured 10 of 11 SAC swimming championships from 2007–2017, including eight straight from 2010–2017. Last season, they earned their first title since that dominant stretch.

The Seminole girls have won the conference twice, in 2017 and 2018.

According to coach Ryan Akerson, Seminole County has historically been one of the deepest swimming areas in Florida. In 2018, the top three boys teams at the Class 4A state meet were Oviedo (1st), Seminole (2nd) and Lake Brantley (3rd), with just 21 points separating first and third place. In 2019, Oviedo finished first again, Seminole second and Lake Brantley fourth.
